GRANTS

Several organisations offer financial support to individuals and organisations in order to enable them to run science events and activities eg school-based workshops. Some are area specific, some are available at specific times of the year. More details are available from:

British Science Association

Institute of Physics

Royal Society of Chemistry

STFC Public Engagement Fund

The Edina Trust

The Ogden Trust

Safety

All our Workshop Leaders have successfully passed an enhanced DBS check.

Sphere Science is an associate member of CLEAPSS from whom we obtain safety advice for all our activities. The materials and equipment are quite safe when used as instructed. Risk assessments are available for all activities. The class teacher should always be present and is ultimately responsible for discipline. Workshops are offered on the understanding that the school accepts full liability for the safety of pupils and staff, and any other help arranged by the school.

INSURANCE

We have full public liability cover.

Social Inclusion

Sphere Science operates a policy of social inclusion; please tell us of any specific needs before the workshops take place.

We obtain a lot of the materials we use from these organisations:

Rapid

Timstar

TTS

www.tts-group.co.uk

There are also lots of useful ‘how to’ videos on YouTube which can be found under ‘Ivydale Science’
