Over the summer, Sarah has been travelling around the country training teenagers to deliver science ‘tricks’. This was to support the national “Reading Sparks Programme” in libraries.
Balloon Buggies
Making their own balloon-powered buggies (which they kept!) was the highlight of a workshop day Martin provided for a summer school in East London recently.
Beautiful Bubbles
Oxford University was the setting for activities provided by Martin and Sarah - problem-solving challenges and science tricks like making giant bubbles.
Racing Rollers
Dunraven school recently enjoyed our Rollers workshop with Sarah, making and testing their own wind-up toys. Here’s a short video of a fun race at the end of one session.
Coventry Scientists
Willenhall Ogden Trust cluster in Coventry recently enjoyed a variety of workshops with Martin over three days. Everyone had fun finding out more about energy and forces practically.
Cosmic Cape
Capenhurst was the setting for this music festival at which we provided fun science activities for all the family. Hundreds attended and all had a great day!
International Science

Jumping Beans!
As a result of one of our Inset days, this class had great fun when their teacher used one of our ideas with them. We’re now trying to find out the collective name for a set of jumping beans!
Inclusive Science
We have now been certified! Last month Martin, Meg and Sarah all successfully passed their online training to teach deaf children. They then had a greta time doing exactly that!
Healthy Harborne Scientists
Harborne Academy students were set the challenge of determining which citrus fruit had the most Vitamin C in it. Martin delivered the workshop to help students make up for lost practical time during lockdown, especially refining skills.
Engineering for Everyone

Great Public Engagement
Rosie, Michael and Ruoyan (all PhD students from the University of Leicester) were trained by Sarah in how to be good at public engagement. Here they are in action in a local school, explaining the magnetopause.
Scout Science Show
Bedfordshire Scouts held their annual awards day on Saturday and Sarah provided three shows for the young people. In between, she managed to entertain some of the adult volunteers too.

Engineering for Everyone
Secondary students from EPCA and Azza supplementary schools delivered some of our practical workshops for KS1 and KS2 children as part of the IET-funded Engineering for Everyone project.
Stoke-on-Trent Scientists
Trentham Academy had a Year 6 induction week and we were pleased to provide two workshops (“Citrus” and “Wind”) and two challenges (“Marble Runs” and “Straw Towers”. All the pupils were fully engaged and had a great time.
Grosvenor Square Scientists
It was very exciting to see the new designs for the gardens in Grosvenor Square this week. Our Jumping Beans attracted the attention of people of all ages, and we enjoyed discussing a selection of quick science activities and demonstrations with younger visitors while their families studied the plans.
Remote scientists
Martin recently delivered a week of Urenco workshops in Ellesmere Port without leaving his home, all done remotely. Here is a class from St Mary of the Angels.
